Sad to see the Kitch Go

We stopped by Lamcy Plaza last night. Lamcy is a unique mall, or was. It had truly eclectic decor. When you first walked in, you saw a waterfall that stretched over all three floors.

To the right there was a robotic clown climbing up and down a rope. And, behind you, over the entrance was the Tower Bridge, a medieval castle also stretching up three floors.

I didn’t check for the clown last night, but I don’t remember seeing him and I think he may already be gone. The waterfall looked like this:

The signs said “coming soon” a new passager elevator. OH NO!

Get aboard the Emu Train. It goes lickety split.

These knock-off Barbies seem to be having costume malfunctions.

For some unknown reason, the store had oodles of smurfs (and angry birds).

Including MacSmurf.

And if ceramic smurfs aren’t enough, there are pictures to hang on your wall.

Plenty to choose from. There were also two poor employees in smurf suits out in the parking lot. In this heat, the thing you don’t want to be wearing is a blue furry suit and a big head.

These are the best doll chairs ever!

In a desert where the temperature ranges from 75F to 120F, it’s important to have gloves, ear muffs, and furry caps.

There’s a great new Khaleeji family doll house. Why they live in a wood frame house is a mystery. Apparently, their neighbors, the King and Queen have their own Jester.

Down the street is the Cavemen family.

I am greatly amused by the bone in the hair.

“The seven innate emotions are joy, anger, sorrow, fear, love, hate, and desire.” I think this speaks for itself.

When I first saw this in August, I thought “good thing someone put that brick there to keep that rock from getting away.”

But, apparently a single brick wasn’t enough.

Discount Store Expedition

We ventured out for an evening of discount store shopping. It is always an adventure.

Melmac, anyone?

The coffee mug aisle.

The glassware aisle.

Facial tissues, anyone?

How could you not want a ladybug or spotted cow broom?

Or a dolphin shaped toy sewing machine?

This one takes a little explanation (picture too fuzzy). It is a tiger with a lamb on it’s back. The lamb has a cat mask or hat on it’s head. In front of the tiger is a mouse who also has a cat mask or hat on it’s head. And, yet, we did not purchase this toy.

From the candy section, the appetizing “Milko Lacto.”

But, of course, the big attraction of the evening was DaddyBird, whose beard gets the attention of everyone working or shopping in the store.

Weird Shopping

Here are the highlights from tonight’s shopping trip.

They seem to work very hard at keeping all the shopping cart returns full of carts. This seems very backwards to me.

Let’s take a vote. Should DaddyBird buy the Superman shoes?

Buy two mayonaise, get one deflated soccer ball free!

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it is a camouflage peace hat with rhinestones. What more could you want?
